In the past, when we have been here around Christmas, we have always enjoyed the shop windows in the great stores. They are designed to appeal to children and are clever and exciting. So, we thought it would be interesting to go to some of the same stores, les grands magasins de Paris, especially Galleries Lafayette and Au Printemps.

Although the windows were amazing and the store displays equally so, they were aimed at an adult market and in many cases were not related to the Easter themes at all, but rather to the Spring season. In fact, the use of flowers was absolutely astonishing and the stores, as always, were ultra chic.

Of course, Galleries Lafayette is a work of art in its own right with the huge vaulted ceiling and the marvelous old fashioned style that characterised the levels in the store.

After a wander through the two shops, we headed down the Avenue de l'Opera to the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries.

It being a lovely warm day, we had decided to have lunch in the gardens. A good lunch, a decent wine, superb views in the gardens and beyond
